Food Academy UK and the Oriental Culinary Institute/School of Wok with the support of The Restaurant SW4 at Lambeth College and 1000 cookbooks have teamed up to run a “Get a Career in Hospitality” training for people in East London.
The programme consists of world-class culinary training that provides a basis for a career in a professional kitchen; a high-quality two-week work placement in the industry and employment interviews. Our trainees will also participate in the 2015 Taste of London show.
This is a key initiative because while unemployment of young people remains high, the hospitality industry is forecasted to create 800,000 jobs by 2020.
The “Get a Career in Hospitality” programme has been commissioned by Newham Workplace and was unveiled in the Grand Designs Live Kitchen at London’s ExCel on May 6th, with cooking demonstrations by Levi Roots, Jeremy Pang and Sandeep Channa and the participation of our Prince’s Trust and St. Paul’s Way learners.
You can support this initiative by offering our students work placements or job interviews or by providing funding to make this programme available to more young people. Call us!
